Art from my heart!
It’s taken me a very long time to find my way with art. Even though I did a BTEC foundation course in Art, and a BA Hons in Graphic art and design I don’t feel like I’ve ever really been taught much in terms of skills and methods. I feel like I’ve been mostly self taught really. Just through constant trial and error, practice and a pure love for drawing and creating art.
I’ve tried most mediums over the years, and a simple pencil and paper is always my faithful favourite medium.
I’ve always loved drawing and creating but I’ve never quite managed to feel like I’ve found my own style .. until now!
I feel like I’ve found a method of drawing and creating that feels natural to me. I’m not just copying from photos, I’m using photographs I’ve captured as inspiration for my drawings, then free styling the rest, letting the pencils take me on a journey, and just going with the flow. (sounds very hippy but its how it feels!)
I love using as many colours as possible and building up tiny details.
I’ve been getting completely lost and absorbed in the images I’ve been making recently.
The first piece I completed is part of a series of abstract landscapes I’m working on.
‘Claife Heights’ is inspired by some photographs I captured on a walk in the Lake District last October. The colours and light were just magical and I knew I needed to create something from those moments. Claife heights is the place in the Lake District where I took the photographs. If you squint and stand back maybe you can make out the mountains in the distance, the clouds in the sky and the autumnal bracken and trees on a country lane? Or do you just see colours and rainbow droplets?
I was thrilled to sell my Original drawing on the day I released it! (but also a little sad I have to part with it now). I decided I needed to keep a copy of this drawing too so I have released a limited edition art print that is a replica of the Claife Heights original drawing.
There are only 20 in the edition and I’m excited to see where they end up going to! I’m also working on releasing a few larger prints too .. watch this space for more details!
